WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL EXTENDS WINNING STREAK
Philadelphia, Pa. (9/29/12) The Dominican College women's volleyball team extended their winning streak to five straight matches after defeating host, Philadelphia University, 3-2 this afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played at the Gallagher Center. With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 11-7 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

With the win, the Lady Chargers improve to 11-7 overall and 7-0 in conference play.
The Rams came out strong in set one with the 25-14 win. DC answered back in set two as they quickly opened an eight point lead (10-2) and never trailed en route to the 25-19 win.
In the third set, PU had an 8-3 lead when Dominican went on a 6-0 tear to go ahead 9-8 and capped off a 12-1 run with back-to-back service aces from setter Whitney Ranger* (Ventura, Calif.) to hold a 15-10 lead. From there, the Lady Chargers would never trail and closed out the set with a kill from senior Courtney Heard (Ventura, Calif.) for the 25-20 win and 2-1 match lead.
Philadelphia jumped out to a 12-3 lead in set four and went on to tie the match with a 25-19 set four win.
In the decisive fifth set with the score tied at 7-all, freshman Tori Dexter (Selah, Wash.) served six consecutive Lady Charger points to go head 13-7. At match point, Heard closed out the match with a kill for the 15-10 win and 3-2 matc victory.
Heard led three Lady Chargers in double figues with 15 kills.
Dexter and senior Michelle Fiorvanti (Commack, N.Y.) each finished with 14 kills in the win.
Ranger tallied a match leading 43 assists and 13 digs.
Fiorvanti completed the double-double with a team leading 27 defensive digs. Libero Jordyn Fuller* (Keller, Texas) recorded 26 digs, while Dexter also had a double-double with 15 digs. N'Jameh Philip (Monroe, N.Y.) had 10 digs on the day.
Dominican is back in action on Friday evening when they host Bloomfield College in a CACC contest at the Hennessy Center.
