West Chester, Pa. (9/5/25) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team began the 2025 season with two losses to Millersville University and the University of Charlestons in matches played today at the PSAC East Kickoff Tournament.
Following the losses, the Lady Chargers are now 0-2 on the young season.
Match One: In the opening match of the day, the Lady Chargers feel to the Marauders, 3-1. MU won the first set by the close score of 25-22, but Dominican rallied to take the second set, 26-24. In the second set, DUNY combined for 12 kills to the Marauders seven kills and saw Elizabeth Perez record a kill to put the Lady Chargers at set point and Kaeden Sanstead closed it out with a service ace.
Sets three and four were won by Millersville by scores of 25-20 and 25-23 for the 3-1 win.
Perez led Dominican with 14 kills, while Sanstead finished with 18 assists. Senior libero Kylie Flynn had team best 16 defensive digs.
Freshman Leila Ortiz added eight kills, along with outsider hitter Trinity Parkin also recording eight kills.
Alexandria De Iasi tallied seven kills in the loss.
Match Two: In their second match against the Golden Eagles, the University of Charleston won in straight sets 25-21, 25-22, 25-18.
Parkin led the team with a career high eight kills in the loss.
Senior Savannah Tody had four kills, while Layla Shipley also tallied four kills and a team best 12 assists.
Flynn finished the match with 10 defensive digs.
Dominican returns to action at PSAC East Kickoff Tournament tomorrow morning when they take on host, West Chester University.
