LADY CHARGERS OUTLAST PURPLE KNIGHTS IN FIVE SETS FOR FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON
Colchester, V.T. (9/12/25) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team won a five set marathon over the Purple Knights of St. Michael's College this evening in non-conference action at the Ross Sports Center in Colchester, V.T.
The Lady Chargers completed the comeback after trailing the match 2-1 taking the next two sets for their first win on the season.
Dominican won the first set by a score of 25-22 but then were edged 31-29 in the second set and fell behind 2-1 in the match after dropping the third set 25-23.
Dominican bounced back in the fourth set by jumping out in front early and continued to build a lead and secure the 25-19 win to force the fifth and decisive set.
Dominican opened the fifth set on a 6-0 run and never lost the lead on their way to the 15-11 win and secured the 3-2 match victory.
Alexandria De Iasi led the Lady Chargers in kills with 16 and points with 19.5 after also adding three block assists and two service aces. De Iasi also recorded 12 digs in the win.
Trinity Parkin and Savannah Tody each recorded 12 kills. Parkin picked up nine digs while Tody also finished with 16 points after adding four block assists and one solo block.
Kaeden Sanstead recorded a team-high 45 assists while also recording 15 digs and six kills. Haile Comeau recorded a team-high 17 digs while Leila Ortiz added five block assists.
Dominican returns to action tomorrow as they close out their weekend road trip when they face Wilmington University in a non-conference match from the campus of St. Michael's College at 11:00 AM.
