LADY CHARGERS TOP SPARTANS IN NON-CONFERENCE MATCH
Sparkill, N.Y. (9/17/25) The Dominican University New York women's volleyball team won their third straight match this evening after defeating host, St. Thomas Aquinas College, 3-1, in non-conference action played at the Spartan Athletic Complex.
With the win the Lady Chargers improve to 3-4 on the season.
The Spartans won the first set, 25-20, but Dominican bounced back to take the second set 25-20. DUNY took a 2-1 lead with a 25-23 third set victory and ended the match with a 25-21 fourth set win.
The Lady Chargers had a .308 attack percentage with 15 kills and only three errors.
In the second set, the score was tied at 19-all when DUNY scored four straight points (three of them coming off kills from Savannah Tody and Alexandria De Iasi) for a 23-19 advantage. A Spartan kills broke the run, but a STAC service error and attack error gave Dominican the 25-20 set win.
A De Iasi kill in the third set secured the 25-23 win and Dominican used a 7-1 run in the final set to claim a 17-11 lead en route to the 25-21 win and 3-1 match victory.
Sophomore De Iasi led the way with 14 kills and 15 defensive digs.
Tody produced 12 kills and a team high .440 attack percentage, while setter Kaeden Sanstead had 39 assists and 14 digs.
Freshman Haile Comeau tallied 15 digs with teammate Layla Shipley adding nine kills in the win.
Trinty Parkin recorded 13 digs and six kills.
Dominican returns to action on Friday evening when they have their home opener against Pace University. Game time is set for 6pm on Coach Baxter Court in the Hennessy Center.
