#3 LADY CHARGERS FALL TO #2 PACE UNIVERSITY IN THE NCAA REGIONAL SECOND ROUND
Pleasantville, N.Y. (5/10/25) The #3 seeded Lady Chargers took on the #2 seed Pace University Setters in the NCAA Second Round from Northwell Stadium on the campus of Pace University this afternoon.
The Setters completed the comeback to earn a spot in the NCAA Quarterfinal round next Saturday and improve to 17-4 overall on the season.
The Lady Chargers had their 18 game winning streak snapped after falling to the Setters.
DU goalkeeper Kristinamarie Kaszovitz made eight saves while picking up two ground balls but suffered the loss as she finishes the season with a 19-2 record in net.
Pace keeper Elsa Branco made 10 saves including five big saves in the fourth quarter to earn her third win on the season.
Erica Ortiz scored a team-high four goals while adding one assist and picked up seven draw controls. Madelyn Grella scored three goals on six shots while Sydney Strohmayer scored two goals, picked up three ground balls, and added one caused turnover.
Madison Mileti scored one goal while dishing out a team-high three assists. Caitlin Costello and Grace DeStasio each scored one goal and recorded two assists. Jordana Tomasetti scored one goal and caused one turnover.
Jenna Rigo picked up a team-high five ground balls while causing five turnovers which was also a team-high.
The Setters were led by Maddie Schubert and Gigi Genovese who each scored three goals. Nikki Mottes scored two goals while adding a team-high four assists.
The Lady Chargers scored the first goal of the game when Mileti opened the scoring 2:30 into the game. Pace scored the next two goals but the Lady Chargers answered with a four goal run to regain the lead for the rest of the first half.
Both teams traded goals to begin the second half before Dominican scored three unanswered to take a 12-7 lead with 5:38 remaining in the third quarter.
The Setters offense got hot as they would score the next nine goals on a 9-0 from the end of the third quarter and most of the fourth quarter as they completed the comeback.
The Lady Chargers finish the season with an overall record of 19-2.
