DOMINICAN DOWNS DAEMEN ON SENIOR DAY
Orangeburg, N.Y. (4/27/25) The Dominican University New York women's lacrosse team wrapped up the 2025 regular season with an 18-4 win in non-conference action over Daemen University on Senior Day.
The #20/24 Lady Chargers extend their winning streak to 15 straight games as they improve to 16-1 overall.
Today was a special day for the women's lacrosse program as they honored their graduating seniors with a pregame ceremony.
Grad students #4 Grace DeStasio and #5 Caitlin Costello were acknowledged and then seniors: #7 Sydney Strohmayer, #8 Anna Kaminskey, #9 Josie Lettieri, #10 Ava Carabetta, #11 Jordana Tomasetti, #12 Jessilynn Galgano, #13 Erica Ortiz, #15 Domenica DaCosta, #16 Ellie Brouwer, #18 Erin Carr, #22 Alivia Chieca, #28 Kristinamarie Kaszovitz, and #33 Kathryn Ehrlinger were all honored during the pregame ceremony.
Dominican opened the game with eight goals in the first quarter and added four more goals in the second quarter including five straight from Ortiz.
Three goals in each of the third and fourth quarters solidified the 18-4 win. Kaszovitz improved to 16-1 on the season in net for the Lady Chargers and made three saves including the 400th of her career.
Senior Kathryn Ehrlinger played 12:02 in net for the Lady Chargers and made one save. Emma Crater also saw time in net for DU.
Ortiz scored a team-high six goals which included the 300th point of her career while DeStasio scored two goals. Ortiz and DeStasio combined for 17 of the team's 19 draw controls.
Strohmayer finished with a hat trick as well as one assist and two ground balls. Madelyn Grella finished with five points on three assists and two goals including the 200th goal of her career.
Costello scored one goal and led the team in assists with five for six total points and two draw controls. Tomasetti scored one goal and recorded one assist while picking up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Lettieri scored one goal while Chieca scored one goal, picked up two ground balls and caused three turnovers. Rylie McGhan added one goal while Jenna Rigo picked up three ground balls and caused two turnovers.
The Lady Chargers earned the #1 overall seed in the 2025 CACC Women's Lacrosse Championships and will host the semifinal round this Tuesday on O'Brien Field.
